Shamrock & Lucky Tree Paintings

20130228-105348.jpg

We have been talking about St. Patricks day coming up and decided to kick off our crafts for the holiday with some simple paintings! All you need is paper, finger paint, and a bell pepper or two!

For the bell pepper drawings just cut in half and clean bell pepper. We talked about the shape of the bell pepper and what shamrocks have to do with Saint Patty’s day. Dip in green paint and stamp paper.

For the lucky trees I helped the kids stamp their handprints on a piece of paper, then they added gold coins with their finger tips in yellow paint. Once dry I drew on tree trunks.

These were super easy fun activities for the kiddos to do!

Snow Ice Cream

The other day we got about two inches of snow so making snow ice cream was a must! It’s super easy! All you need is a large bowl of clean snow, one can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 tsp of vanilla, and a few drops of food coloring (optional).

Mix snow, sweet milk, vanilla and food coloring. Once mixed I put it into the freeze for 30 minutes to make sure it’s good and cold! Serve!

We added green food coloring for St. Patricks coming up!

Animal Snow Day {Baby Bin}

20130228-072236.jpg
A few days ago we had our first good snow this winter. With it being Mr. B’s 1st snow day I was too excited to let him discover. I tossed some in a tray then added his favorite animals to play with gnaw on.

20130228-072526.jpg
I let him discover the cold animals and snow on his own and he was absolutely loving it. While he examined the snow I would tell him “cold snow” and soon enough each time he touched the snow he would look at me and grin waiting for me to tell him once again.

I love to see Mr. B in discovery 🙂

& I must share Mr. B with his aunt, sisters and VERY FIRST SNOWMAN!

ABC Egg Dig {In Snow}

20130226-165306.jpg
Yesterday’s snow was brought indoors for a little ABC recognition and sound practice for the littles.
We filled our block wagon with snow and hid our halved Easter eggs that have our uppercase letters on one half and lowercase letters on the other in the snow.

20130227-073422.jpg
As the littles dug through the snow they would collect the egg halves in their bowls. They loved playing in the snow while indoors where it was nice and warm {warm enough for Miss Grace to spend the day in her swim suit, obviously she is longing for summer, haha}.

20130227-073854.jpg
When all the eggs were found we sat down and the littles searched for the correct letters that went with their halves then matched them. I helped very little, but when an egg was matched I had the littles say their sound. They were so proud of their teamwork and one another that they kept praising one another with each success. I loved the high five!

Of course if you don’t have snow you could use other fillers such as water, sand, shaving cream & etc.

Drink Holder Gift Basket {Baby Shower}

20130225-143825.jpg
I have another drink holder gift basket idea for you, this time for that special baby that’s on it’s way. This was for our little cousin that should be here in a few more months, hurray 😉

20130225-143923.jpg
Obviously there isn’t a noticeable theme to this basket because we based what we bought on Mr. B’s (6m) favorite things or things we had to go out and buy bc we didn’t get them at our baby showers.

I’m absolutely addicted to these gift baskets!!!

Playdough Shapes Activity

20130225-144525.jpg
We had quite a bit of fun making shapes with playdough this morning. I drew shapes on small index cards and stuck them in our shape box for the littles to pick a card and then make the shape. We had fun helping one another manipulate the playdough, count sides and cut the shapes out.

Our favorite was doing our free shape cards!

Drink Holder Gift Basket {4 Tweens}

20130221-165324.jpg
I helped put together a little birthday gift for a friend of my tween sister’s. They aren’t the closest of friends so we opted for a fun gift basket full of the girls favorite treats.

20130221-170116.jpg
We filled the bottom with paper Easter grass then poked all the treats into the different sections.

20130221-170516.jpg
Then we went tissue paper crazy!

I’m loving the drink holder gift baskets and can’t wait to share more with you. Very soon in fact!
